Couse Foundation / Ways to Give

UNRESTRICTED and TEMPORARILY RESTRICTED GIFTS
Gifts of any size may be designated for a specific current program or project of the Couse – Sharp Historic Site, or a gift may be made without restrictions. Unrestricted gifts are preferred because they enable The Couse Foundation to allocate funds where they are most needed.
GIFTS OF CASH
Most gifts will be cash contributions, for which donors may receive tax benefits if they itemize deductions. Pledges can be made payable over a period of up to 3 - 5 years depending on the size of the gift and the donor's intent.
TRIBUTE GIVING
Tribute gifts, given in the name of a loved one, are unique expressions of thoughtfulness. The Couse Foundation offers two types of tribute gifts: honor gifts and memorial gifts.
An honor gift recognizes a person on a special occasion, such as a birthday, wedding or anniversary. A memorial gift offers a meaningful way to pay lasting tribute to the memory of a loved one or friend.
No minimum is required for a gift. Your loved one, or in the case of a memorial gift, the family, will receive a special acknowledgment card that recognizes the honoree and the donor. The amount of your gift remains confidential unless you desire otherwise.
SECURITIES
Appreciated stocks, bonds, and other marketable securities are an easy way to support the
causes important to you in a tax advantaged manner and at a lower out-of-pocket cost to you.
If you have securities you have owned for more than one year and are worth more today than when originally purchased, you can donate them witout incurring capital gains tax and receive an income tax savings based on the current fair market value. Your net cost of the gift is the original cost of the securities, reduced by the tax savings.

ENDOWMENTS
By creating an endowment you can support in perpetuity a specific purpose that is important to you, honor or memorialize a friend or loved one and help ensure the future of the Couse-Sharp Historic Site.
The principal of your gift is invested and is intended to grow over time. Distributions from the endowment are made annually based on the Foundation's policy. This policy is designed to provide a predictable revenue stream.
You can immediately establish an endowment through an outright gift using almost any type of asset - cash, securities, real estate or other property that can be liquidated. Bequests and other future gifts can also fund an endowment and provide estate and gift tax benefits.

If you are thinking about creating an endowment, donating securities, or other planned giving, we encourage you and/or your financial advisor to contact Rich Rinehart, President of The Couse Foundation, at 575-751-0369 or admin@couse-sharp.org
